In Minnesota all children must be screened before entering Kindergarten in a public school. All children have the right to receive a FREE Early Childhood Screening with age 3 being the recommended age.
Early Childhood Screening is
* Not an IQ test
* Not a label
* Not a diagnosis
* Not a placement test
Early Childhood Screening is a Free snapshot of how your preschooler is growing, developing, and learning.
"screening in early childhood supports children's readiness for Kindergarten and promotes positive child health and developmental outcomes".
A complete early childhood screening will include a hearing and vision check, height and weight check, speech and development screening, and health and immunization screening.
Early Childhood Screening can connect families with resources in the community.
Interpreter services are provided at no cost to families if needed.
