ATHLETICS DIRECTOR:
Jon
Summer was named the Farmington Athletics Director in the summer
of 2005. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1997 from Hamline University
and holds a master's degree in exercise and sports science/sports
administration from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse.
Prior
to joining Farmington schools, Mr. Summer was the Assistant Athletics
Director for the Hopkins School District, where he administered
more than 30 sports in the Hopkins High School athletic program.
In addition to his experience coordinating high school athletics,
he has experience in sports planning and management on the district-wide
and collegiate levels. During his undergraduate and graduate education,
Mr. Summer participated in a variety of graduate assistant and
internship assignments that included college level sports planning,
facility supervision and scheduling, and community sports management.
Due
to the growth of the high school program, the former Activities
Director role was divided into athletics and activities. While
Mr. Summer will oversee the athletics programs, the Assistant Principal Kerry
Timmerman will
supervise the other co-curricular activities such as fine arts,
drama and academic competitions.
