What Do We Do at Early Intervention?

We serve children from birth through 3 years of age in the Farmington School District. We visit you in your home or your child’s day care setting to provide Cognitive, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language services. We also contract for Physical Therapy, Vision, Deaf/Hard of Hearing services. We serve children with Autism, Developmental Delays, Syndromes, Motor disabilities, Speech/Language Delays, and many more.

Early Intervention Services are for eligible infants, toddlers and preschoolers with developmental delays. These services are designed to identify and meet children’s needs in five developmental areas:

Physical
Cognitive
Communication
Social or emotional
Adaptive skills

Who is eligible for these services?

Parents and family members, doctors, hospital and public health nurses, WIC clinics, and childcare providers can all refer a child for an early intervention evaluation. In Dakota County, all referrals for early intervention services go to each school district’s Early Childhood Special Education program.
