Farmington Marching Band competes at State Championships
Place 4th in Class A at US Bank Stadium
The 12th Annual Youth in Music State Marching Band Championships were held October 8th at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The event featured the top marching bands from throughout the state of Minnesota, as well as several bands from Iowa, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. A total of 29 bands performed.
The Farmington Tiger Marching Band performed their 2016 show, The Rave from the Graves of Vienna, and took 4th place in the Class A competition.
“This has been an extremely rewarding year for our ensemble,” said director Erin Holmes. “This band has improved in both their musical fundamentals and musical maturity. We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
According to Assistant Director Bradley Mariska, the students and staff were excited to perform in the new Vikings stadium. “It’s hard to describe how special and memorable this opportunity is for our students. The Youth in Music Championships is also super educational for our students, as we get to watch and learn from all the best marching bands in the state.”
In Class AAAA, Rosemount took top honors. The Marching Irish also took 1st place in the Grand Championship competition and were recognized as the 2016 Minnesota State Champion Marching Band.
The Farmington Band will play their field show again this Friday, October 14, at the final home football game vs. Eagan. If you enjoy the show, plan ahead for the 29th Annual Indoor Marching Band Concert which will take place Sunday, November 6 at 2 p.m. at FHS.
