Families with students who currently take iPads home in grades 3-11 may now opt to check out their issued iPads for the summer months! Using FeePay and agreeing to the updated 2016-17 iPad Loan Agreement and having your child complete the summer iPad checkout process at their current school, will also ensure that your child is set with the iPad check out for the entire 2016-17 academic year.
The option for Summer iPad checkout supports our efforts to foster open-ended, personalized learning opportunities; curiosity; exploration and continued access to creative tools and resources.
While summer is typically full of a wide range of activities, the flexibility of the summer months also offers a great time to take advantage of a variety of learning resources from e-books to online resources and free courses to the use of digital tools in the creation of original writings, drawings, photos, videos, and music.
In our efforts to better personalize learning opportunities for students, Farmington Area Public Schools will have completed its 4th year in deploying iPads in a 1:1 ratio. Unlike previous years, this year we do not have to collect iPads due to changes in our Mobile Device Management software, new operating system updates or “end of lease” collections. As a result, this is the first year we are able to provide families the option of summer iPad checkout. However similar to previous years, those not opting for summer checkout will have iPads collected at their building before the end of school.
We are excited about this option not only because of the potential for open-ended exploration and creative learning opportunities this summer, but also because of the time saved from having to “redistribute ipads” this fall during the first few crucial weeks of school. With the summer iPad checkout, fewer returning students will need to be scheduled through a “fall checkout” process when schools are back in session. This will shorten the amount of time that students and teachers are without iPads in the classroom next fall. Those opting for summer iPad checkout will be set until spring 2017.
The updated 2016-17 iPad Loan Agreement, which includes information regarding summer iPad checkout along with other helpful information for iPads deployed during the regular school year, is available online for review. In addition, the FeePay “iPad” activities are also live for each site allowing parents, guardians, and students the ability to agree to the terms of the 2016-17 iPad Loan Agreement and either enroll in or waive participation in the “full year” version of the iPad Protection Plan.
Please see our expanded list of Frequently Asked Questions for more details on the optional summer iPad checkout, the “full year” iPad Protection Plan and repair procedures. A little bit later this month, Individual schools will be sharing end of year collection information for those not choosing to take advantage of this new opportunity.
For families opting to checkout their student’s iPad for the summer, please use FeePay to review and agree to the 2016-17 iPad Loan Agreement and determine if you want to waive or enroll in the iPad Protection Plan by Tuesday, May 31st, 2016.
