For the first time in school history, Farmington's Science Olympiad Team has qualified for the State Tournament! In Minnesota Science Olympiad competitions, teams of up to 15 students compete in events that focus on different scientific disciplines ranging from earth science to physics. Some events are hands-on labs, sometimes students must build machines, sometimes they must complete paper and pencil tests. Although a few events involve head-to-head competition, most events require teamwork, group planning, and cooperation.
The top 30 teams from the regional tournaments around the state compete at the State Science Olympiad which will take place in March. Special congratulations to Cole Stansbury, who finished 4th in the Electric Vehicle event, and Hailey Karnowski and Morgan Weberg, for finished 3rd in the Write It/Do It event. Other team members include Angelina Lind, Daniel Roegiers, Margaret Spannbauer, and Logan Spano. Todd Kohorst is their staff advisor. Best of luck at in the State Tournament!
