Don’t be alarmed! There will be several police cars outside Farmington High School next week when we host the monthly meeting of School Resource Officers from Dakota County on Tuesday, January 10. School Resource Officers play a key role in the safety of our students and we are pleased to welcome them for this professional development opportunity. While the officers are at FHS, Principal Jason Berg will discuss the changing school landscape with them and share some of our district safety practices.

The implementation of the district strategic plan and the 1:1 iPad deployment means that today students are spread throughout the building and may not be working in traditional spaces. This type of learning enhances creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills; but, it also changes the way Student Resource Officers supervise students and deal with emergencies. Mr. Berg will share information about the Run-Hide-Fight training we’ve done and how student supervision is handled at the high school. The work that Student Resource Officers do is important and we at Farmington High School are grateful for it.
