Farmington Area Public Schools is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s ExCel Awards for Farmington: Sarah Hannon and Ethan Partida. The ExCel Award highlights high school juniors who show significant progress toward graduation and also participate in athletics and/or fine arts programs. Winners are not only viewed as leaders in the school but also in their community.

Sarah Hannon, daughter of Jennifer and Matthew Hannon, has been involved in soccer for all three years of her high school career and she has lettered every year. She played in a section championship game and was voted a 2018 captain. In addition to athletics, Hannon is a member of the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and Youth Teaching Youth. She serves the community by volunteering with programs such as Feed My Starving Children, the National Honor Society Blood Drive, and the Farmington Food Shelf. In addition to all this she has consistently appeared on the A Honor Roll.  “The thing I really respect about Sarah is that she always does what is right, whether it is cool or not. She doesn’t worry what other people, players, students think about her; she does what is right.… [That] is what makes her a great teammate and leader,” said Aaron Johnson, FHS Girls’ Soccer Coach.

Ethan Partida, son of Shelly and Frank Partida, has been involved in Boys’ Tennis and Cross Country during his high school career. He has also played in the Farmington High School Band, the FHS Marching Band, and the Holiday Brass Ensemble all three years of high school. He has consistently been on the A Honor Roll and is a member of the Math Team, the Science Olympiad, the National Honors Society, and Youth Teaching Youth. Outside of school, Partida is an active volunteer with his church, with local elementary schools, as a Youth Soccer Referee, as a SOS Tutor, and as a Baccalaureate Band Member. Lisa Lippold, the FHS Boys’ Cross Country Coach, describes Partida as “a bright, thoughtful, and devoted student who is exemplary in any leadership role he takes on.”

Hannon and Partida show great leadership qualities and represent the district with true tiger pride. Their teachers and coaches are proud of them for this meaningful accomplishment.
