Dr.
Steven Geis is the proud parent of Faith, Claire, Sophie. Together
with Kathy, the five enjoy quality time volunteering, traveling
and time at the farm.
Dr.
Geis comes from a family of educators. His mother is a
retired professor of nursing at the U of M, while his father,
Dr. Geis, taught school for 10 years prior to entering the
medical field. It was his parent’s influence and encouragement
that steered him into education.
After
graduation from the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Geis
worked for the Department of Natural Resources in the Trails
and Water Ways Division. During this time he earned a master's
in education
from the University of St. Thomas. He taught in the Stillwater
School District prior to coming to Farmington. In 1994, he
started teaching 7th grade American history. The love of
learning
continued and he earned a specialist degree in educational
administration
from Saint Mary’s University. He became principal of
Farmington Middle School West in 1999 and earned his doctoral
of educational leadership in 2004.
Ever
since hosting Meadowview Elementary’s first- and
fourth-graders for three months while principal at Farmington
Middle
School West he has wanted the opportunity to work and serve
in an elementary school. Former North Trail principal Dr.
McKernan served as a great role model and mentor, and encouraged
him in
seeking
the
NTES principal
position.
