Senior Spotlight: Sam Shockley

In honor of the 2018 Farmington High School graduation, we’re highlighting a few (of the many!) outstanding seniors from this year’s graduating class. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Sam Shockley!

During his time at FHS, Sam has been involved in soccer, where his team won 2nd place in sections, and Diversity Club. He has enjoyed taking graphic art classes at the high school to further explore his passion for designing a brand and has formed great relationships with Mrs. Duncan and Mr. Williams. You may also spot Sam working after school and on weekends in the produce department at Hyvee.

To Sam, being a Tiger means you are able to be strong and fast - attributes that he embodies in all areas of his life. “I want to achieve my goals and waiting does nothing. I am definitely a go-getter.”

Mr. Grove, Sam’s Comparative Religions teacher, said Sam’s attitude and curiosity is inspiring. “Sam may be a quieter student in class, but he brings such a wonderful amount of curiosity about this world and exemplifies true compassion for others.”

This fall, Sam will be continuing his education at Dakota County Technical College. There, he will study Graphic Design Technology for two years and hopes to earn his Associate of Science degree. Eventually, his dream is to own a company and be able to design a brand from scratch.

Advice for future seniors:

“This is the last year of high school before you hit the real world. Have a plan. If you go in blind you will fall. Also make sure you obtain as much knowledge as you can; it will help. Know your friends, but before that, know yourself. ‘Be a leader not a follower.’”
