Welcome to the American Indian Education Program page on the District 192 website. This site a hub for events, activities and information related to our American Indian Education Program. 

The purpose of the American Indian Education Parent Committee is to deepen the family-school connection in order to 

  • provide continuous support to help students build a positive cultural personal identity
  • ensure students learn authentic and true information about their history and culture
  • inspire students to reach their highest aspirations and provide them with the support they need
  • connect families within the community to one another

South of the River Drum & Dance Classes - SY2026

Each school year, American Indian Education Programs from Districts in the South Metro area collaborate to bring unique educational experiences for all ages.

Join us to learn traditional American Indian pow wow songs and dances. You will learn about the different dance styles, their stories and the steps. Our young boys and men will be taught drum songs and protocols while at the drum.

Coming Fall 2025

Our first American Indian Parent Advisory Council Meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30th in Room 1201 at Farmington High School.  Invitations have been sent out to families but you may further inquire about attending by calling Trish Schmaltz at  651.463.5015 or emailing at pschmaltz@farmington.k12.mn.us
