2020 Senior Spotlight: Tyler Rosenberg

2020 Senior Spotlight: Tyler Rosenberg
Posted on 05/08/2020
Tyler RosenbergIn honor of the Farmington High School 2020 graduating class, over the next several weeks we will be highlighting a few of our outstanding seniors. These students have been nominated by Farmington Area Public Schools staff members for exhibiting hard work and pursuing their spark with passion during their time at FHS. Today’s Senior Spotlight is Tyler Rosenberg!

Tyler was nominated for being a conscientious, curious, and creative student. Nancy Schmiesing, his German teacher, said, “He consistently goes beyond ‘good enough’.  Tyler likes to help others, both in and out of the classroom.” According to Tyler, helping people is his spark - what he truly enjoys and is passionate about.

“I am the President of Web Genius, part of Tiger News and Lights Out Tonight, a previous member of Student Council, and a current member of Rogue Robotics and World Cultures Club. I also used to be a Teacher's Assistant in Web Design,” he said.

The Web Genius club at FHS is responsible for putting together the high school registration website each year. Tyler shared, “In the beginning of 2018 another student, Lauren Runze, and I were the only members in Web Genius, all the others were seniors who left. We managed to get about 12 new people to help us update the registration website and make a completely new media center website.” Then, in 2019 Tyler took on even more responsibility for the club. He scheduled all the meetings, booked the spaces, and recruited even more members.

“One challenge I had was finishing up the registration website this year on time. I stayed at school the day prior to it being used for hours. When I got home, I finished up and I was going through it and many of the graphics randomly disappeared with no notice. I had to reupload everything and put them in place. Even the next day, there were a couple issues which I fixed while students were watching Pickens' registration video during RAMP,” he said.

Tyler has contributed a lot to the school community during his time at FHS and we’re proud to have him as a Tiger.

All About Tyler

Favorite Classes & Teachers
“My favorite subjects come from the science and technology departments. My favorite would have to be Chemistry. It just seems so interesting to me how it makes up everything and it provides answers to questions I've had such as why most fish are deeper in the water on a hot day.”

Favorite High School Memory
“Working on and creating Classroom Clash with my friends during the second trimester. Classroom Clash was a segment that we had every week of Tiger News and we had teacher's classes face off against one another. We had a whole bracket I set up and everything. In the end, Hart's class just barely beat Mead's class.”

Future Plans
“After graduation, I am attending University of Minnesota - Twin Cities majoring in Chemistry.”

Advice for Future Seniors
“Try your hardest this year and have the most fun you can! You never know what could happen and how much time you have left. It'll fly by.”
