Senior Spotlight: Waadaa Daka

In honor of the Farmington High School 2021 graduating class, over the next several weeks we will be highlighting a few of our outstanding seniors. These students have been nominated by Farmington Area Public Schools staff members for exhibiting hard work and pursuing their spark with passion during their time at FHS. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Waadaa Daka!
Waadaa was nominated for her persistence, dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic. According to Barbara Walker, her school counselor, she has a “positive attitude, graceful and generous way with peers and adults, willingness to help and desire to know others at a deep and sincere level.”      As a Farmington High School student Waadaa is a member of LINK Crew, the National Honor Society, the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Band, Diversity Club, and the Math Team. Outside of school she takes piano lessons and enjoys art and music. She also spends time volunteering and is active with her church.
All about Waadaa:
Favorite Classes & Teachers
“My favorite subjects in school have always been my science classes, specifically chemistry and biology, despite them being the more difficult classes I have taken. I've always enjoyed my experiences in those classes and loved the teachers that taught them. The information is incredibly interesting as it helps me grow my understanding of how the most basic and minuscule aspects of the world function.”
Future Plans
“I plan on pursuing a STEM degree in order to set myself up to study neuroscience/neurology. I love the idea of pursuing neuroscience because I find studying the brain's function and its effect on behavior to be fascinating. I also plan on being on the pre-med track so that I can take that information and apply it to a career in the medical field.”
Advice for Future Seniors
“My advice for future seniors would be to enjoy the ride and try not to put too much pressure on yourselves because it all ends up working out in the end.”
