Morgan Weberg

In honor of the 2019 Farmington High School graduation, we’re highlighting a few of this year’s outstanding graduating class. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Morgan Weberg!

Morgan’s friends describe her as kind and thoughtful. Her teachers call her driven and determined. One thing she is without question — a very active student. During her time at Farmington High School, Morgan has been involved in Girls’ Soccer, Choir, New Dimension (an audition-only a cappella choir), Science Olympiad, and the National Honor Society. She also plays rugby and tutors other students in math. Outside of school, Morgan works two part-time jobs (at an ice cream parlor and a movie theater) and in her free time tutors elementary students in reading and math through the Tiger Academy program. You might say she likes to stay busy.

Morgan is looking forward life after high school, whatever it may hold. She has been accepted to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and is on the waitlist for the University of California Berkeley. While she has always dreamed of going to college out of state she’s ready to make the best of whatever opportunities come her way. “Whatever the college is I end up going to, I know that I will make the best of it and enjoy my time there to the fullest. I'm so excited to see what's going to happen,” she said.

Here’s a little more about Morgan and her time at FHS:

All About Morgan

Favorite teacher

“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Nygren, hands down. She is just amazing. Coming into her U of M composition and literature courses, I was not confident and did not have a good sense on the skills needed to complete and pass. But she showed me and I will forever be grateful. She is so passionate about every single thing she says and she really took the time to get to know who I was as a student and person. I appreciate all the support she gives, the jokes she tells, the relatability she makes present during lectures and constant enthusiasm to push us to our full potential and enjoy the challenge.”

Favorite high school memory

“My favorite high school memory would have to be the caroling tour I went on with New Dimension during the whole month of December. We learned 18 a cappella songs and performed them at scheduled gigs, some which we had at the Mall of America and the Bourbon and Butcher restaurant. I just got to sing with some of my best friends and it was so much fun and something I will never forget.”

Greatest achievement

“The high school achievement that brings me the most pride is getting into the New Dimension choir at Farmington High School. It is the top choir and required a regular choir assessment plus call back, New Dimension Audition. I knew from the moment I started high school choir that I wanted to be a part of that select ensemble. Being here as a senior, I have been a member for 2 years and I have grown so much with my voice and individual confidence. I have also met a lot of wonderful people who I am so fortunate to make music with on a daily basis.”

Points of pride Maintained a GPA at and above a 4.0 Awarded 10th Grade Girls’ Soccer Offensive MVP Voted Captain for the 2018-2019 Science Olympiad Team Chosen as the FHS female nominee for the Minnesota State High School League Triple A Award. This award highlights students involved in Athletics, Academics and Arts. There is only one female and male nominee per school.

— Awarded 3 Superior scores in the Minnesota State High School League Solo and Ensemble contest for a vocal solo. Also, New Dimension received Honorable Mention at the 2019 competition.

Advice for future seniors

“Enjoy it. Make the most out of any of the activities, sports, clubs, music and art you are involved in because time really does fly. Enjoy the lasting memories with your friends and people you meet for the first time. But, do not be afraid to dream big and think about your future. Everything will work out, if it is meant to be.”
