2026–27 Boundary Realignment

On December 8, 2025, the Farmington Area School Board approved new elementary and middle school attendance boundaries that will go into effect for the 2026–27 school year. These changes support balanced enrollment across schools, improve long-term capacity planning, and help the district prepare for ongoing residential growth in Farmington and Lakeville.

We understand that boundary changes can feel significant for families. This page provides clear, up-to-date information about the realignment, including maps, timelines, transition supports, and links to Board presentations.

Background on Boundary Realignment Process

How the Decision Was Made

The district convened a Boundary Advisory Committee in fall 2024 made up of parents, community members, Marschall Lines representatives, and district staff. The group met throughout September and October to review:

  • Enrollment patterns and building capacity
  • Growth projections from city planning departments
  • Walk zones and transportation routes
  • Educational benefit data and program access
  • Neighborhood boundaries and continuity

After reviewing multiple scenarios, the committee recommended Scenario 6, which provided the best balance of capacity, equity, neighborhood cohesion, and long-term sustainability.
