System of Interventions

Title I Program

Title I is a federally funded program that provides additional academic support for students performing below grade level. Funding for this program is tied directly to socioeconomic indicators of school communities. Based on current district demographic information,  Akin Road Elementary School, North Trail Elementary School,  Meadowview Elementary and Farmington Elementary School qualify for and participate in this program.

Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS)

ADSIS functions similarly to Title I in that it provides reading interventions to students reading significantly below grade level. While Title I is only available (per federal legislation) for schools whose poverty levels are above the district average, all schools currently receive additional state funds for these interventions. The high school also currently receives funds for interventions in mathematics as well. The state's aim for providing ADSIS funding is to reduce the number of student referrals for special education testing and to increase the percentage of qualifying students. This is done on the front end, by providing interventions so that more intensive and expensive special education supports are not needed.

Minnesota Reading and Mathematics Corps

Farmington Area Public Schools also participates in the MN Reading Corps and Mathematics Corps, a subdivision of AmeriCorps. Through this program early childhood and elementary students who perform just below age/grade level expectations are given intensive interventions to catch students up to their peers quickly.

Achievement & Integration

Farmington Area Public Schools participates in the Achievement & Integration (A & I) Program established by Minnesota Department of Education to pursue racial and economic integration and increase student academic achievement, create equitable educational opportunities, reduce academic disparities based on students’ diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds in Minnesota public schools.
