The College Fair is coming to Farmington High School! More than 100 public and private colleges and universities, community and technical colleges, and military organizations will be represented at FHS on Thursday, March 21st, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the commons. This is an important opportunity for students and families to explore post-secondary options. The College Fair is FREE and open to ALL students and families in Farmington and surrounding communities. Prior to attending the college fair students need to register at www.gotocollegefairs.com.

Come see the 2019 Farmington High School One Act Play! One night only: Thursday, January 24th, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Robert Boeckman Middle School Auditorium.

Last summer, the Farmington High School Art Department attended a week long Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) workshop at the Massachusetts Art Institute in Boston. …"It was an amazing conference.…We decided to show others what we learned in Boston and how we were doing it here at Farmington High School," said Dawn Cherwinka, FHS Art Teacher.

Farmington Area Public Schools recently had the honor of hosting the 2nd Annual Special Olympics Minnesota Student Leadership Summit on Friday, October 12th. The event was held at Farmington High School and was free for students and teachers to attend. Additionally, there was no cost to Farmington. This is a great example of strategy #7 in our District Strategic Plan: We will develop relationships and a culture of interdependence throughout all communities for mutual benefit.

Students at Riverview Elementary regularly work to spread kindness and goodwill through our community. As part of their fall philanthropy project, third, fourth, and fifth grade students in the RVES gifted program recently painted kindness rocks to put in front of their school.

You might soon notice changes to meetings of the ISD 192 Board of Education. In their ongoing effort to achieve the District mission and strategic direction by best serving all students, families, and staff, the Board has been working toward excellence in governance, management, and consultation. This developmental work has focused on roles, responsibilities, relationships, structure, and process grounded in the Education Leadership System (ELS) as developed by TeamWorks International, Inc. and Dennis Cheesebrow, Founder and Principal. The Board has recently taken three important action steps to improve workflow, communications, dialogue, and learning:

This is a friendly reminder that if you want your child(ren) to take either prescription or over the counter medication (e.g. Tylenol or Advil) at school, a physician and parent signed Medication Authorization form must be completed annually and returned to the building nurse before the medication is administered. Required forms are available here and will not be emailed to you this summer.

Farmington High School counselors have created a Mental Health Help Kit to give students and staff a great resource for information on how to reduce stress, practice mindfulness and start the difficult conversation about mental health.
