Students from each of the eight schools in ISD 192 are invited at various times throughout the school year to showcase their learning at School Board meetings. Learners from Farmington Elementary, Robert Boeckman Middle School, and Farmington High School attended the March 27th School Board meeting.
Gavin, a student at Farmington Elementary School, along with Megan Sowieja, school counselor, and Kim Bollesen, Farmington Elementary Principal, shared with the ISD 192 School Board about how they’ve been making community connections.
Mrs. Sowieja has been going into all the 5th grade classrooms at Farmington Elementary having students hand write letters to local businesses asking for donations for a Family Fun Night event which will happen on June 2nd. Gavin wrote to Thelen Cabinet Company and not only received a beautiful, hand crafted donation, but was also invited to tour the companies workshop with a friend! It turns out that Chad Thelen, owner of Thelen Cabinets, was a student at FES and actually had the same teacher that Gavin has today. Chad welcomed Gavin and friends from FES into his office and they spoke about school and other interests. Chad was very kind and Matt gave a great tour of the facility. "It was a wonderful experience to see how truly connected local businesses are to the community and how we all benefit when we work with each other. One letter led to all this. It will be an experience for the books and one these students will likely never forget." Mrs. Sowieja shared via the Farmington Elementary Facebook page.
Olivia, Emma, Lucas, and their teachers, Ms. Mattei and Ms. Gennerman highlighted the learning coming out of Boeckman Middle School for the ISD 192 School Board.
"They absolutely rocked the presentation!" Principal Joe Sage shared via the Boeckman Middle School Facebook page.
