Assistive Technology (AT) is any item that helps an individual with a disability to increase, maintain or improve their functional capabilities. The term includes a range of devices from common environmental items to complex, highly technical systems. Assistive technology is considered for every child/student at their annual Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individual Education Program (IEP) meeting. AT devices and services are provided when they are necessary for a learner to achieve their IFSP/IEP goals or access the general education curriculum.
