Application and Appointment Process

The Farmington Area Public Schools Board of Education is accepting applications from residents of Independent School District 192 who are interested in serving on the Board of Education for one vacant director position. The appointee will serve on the Board of Education until a successor is elected at the November 2022 election.

The Board of Education will appoint a new member using the process outlined below:

Legal Requirements:  Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be eligible to vote, have been a resident of the school district for at least 30 days, have not been convicted of an offense for which registration is required under MN Statute Section 243.166.

Meetings: Work sessions are held on the second Monday of each month and business meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Farmington City Hall, Council Chambers with the exception of July, December, March and May when there is only one business meeting on the second Monday of the month. There may also be special meetings, committee meetings, trainings, and retreats.

How to Apply:
Applications will be available at the District Office (located at Farmington High School, South Entrance) 20655 Flagstaff Avenue, Farmington, MN 55024 or be downloaded beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from the district website: www.farmington.k12.mn.us.

Letter of Interest
Resume

Application packets must be submitted in person during normal business hours at the ISD 192 District Office, located within Farmington High School, along with a valid Minnesota State ID or Driver’s License.

The deadline to submit application packets is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Applications received after the stated deadline will not be considered.  All applications and any accompanying materials will be considered public information once interviews have been offered and accepted.

Interview Process:
Special Board Meeting - immediately following the April 25, 2022 Regular Business Meeting
o The School Board will review applications and select the applicants to be interviewed.
Special Board Meeting – May 2, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.
o Interviews will be conducted and are open to the public.
Regular Business Meeting on May 9, 2022 
o The School Board will approve a resolution to appoint the new School Board Member and the appointment shall be effective on the 31st day following this approval process.
