Tracy Hinz, a multi-age teacher, and Lauren Kier, a school psychologist, at Riverview Elementary were recently awarded the Inclusive Educator Award by our partners at ISD 917.
Hinz was nominated for the award by Vision Teacher Sara Henry for "her work to support inclusion of the unique learners that are served in her school.” The award was presented with her students and several of her peers present. Riverview Elementary School Principal Shawn Peck shared in a Facebook message, "Congratulations, Tracy! We are grateful for all you do to ensure that every child is included, cared for, and believed in."
Kier was nominated by Kelli Poulx for "implementing inclusive practices to ensure a quality education for all." Principal Peck shared, "She is extremely worthy of this honor and it is terrific to see the amazing work she does every day be recognized by others. We are beyond grateful for Lauren and the effort she shows to support and advocate for unique learners throughout our school. She is making an incredible impact at Riverview!"
Congratulations to both these amazing educators who work every day to make our Tiger community an awesome place to learn!
Intermediate School District 917 created the Inclusive Educator Award to acknowledge the incredible work of educators from their nine member districts, especially during Inclusive Schools Week. Inclusive Schools Week is celebrated annually the first full week in December by families, schools, and organizations in the U.S. and abroad. It highlights and celebrates the progress that schools have made in implementing inclusive practices to ensure a quality education for an increasingly diverse student population.
