Earlier this month, learners at Farmington Elementary School excitedly welcomed Michael Hall, the author/illustrator of The New York Times bestseller, My Heart Is Like a Zoo, as well as other popular children's books such as Perfect Square, Red: A Crayon’s Story, and Frankencrayon, to their Media Center for a day of reading and Q&A sessions. During his visit Hall shared about his own childhood, his family, his career as a graphic designers, and how he eventually became an author. He discussed the writing process and the joy of creating art.
Hall read several of his books to the children and answered many, many questions over the course of the day. All classes and grade levels had to opportunity to meet Hall and engage with his interactive presentation. Some FES students had previously read his books, even creating artwork inspired by Perfect Square as a part of their art classes, and having the author visit their school in person was a highlight that really brought the books to life.
