2020 Senior Spotlight: Christopher Antwi

Senior Spotlight: Christopher Antwi

In honor of the Farmington High School 2020 graduating class, over the next several weeks we will be highlighting a few of our outstanding seniors. These students have been nominated by Farmington Area Public Schools staff members for exhibiting hard work and pursuing their spark with passion during their time at FHS. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Christopher Antwi!

Chris is the president of the Diversity Club and has been heavily involved in video production at FHS. He has a passion for music and developed an original television segment around that. Additionally, in his senior year he has stepped up to the challenge of hosting the latest student produced FHS show,  “Lights Out Tonight.”

As president of the Diversity Club, Chris was involved in planning the very first FHS Diversity Fair which was to take place. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the club is unable to hold the fair this year, which is a great disappointment to all involved, but they’re hoping to be able to hold it next year and all the work the seniors of 2020 put into planning it will be a huge help. Chris hopes to come back and visit the fair when they are finally able to hold it.

Outside of school, Chris enjoys volunteering whenever he gets the opportunity, with his church, through his mother’s workplace, and other places. He also works part time at Target.

Here are just a few of the thing Christopher’s teachers had to say about him:

“He’s articulate, passionate, and genuinely committed to making FHS more inclusive.” - Doug Mead, Diversity Club Advisor

“He is an amazing young man…. He takes his academics very seriously and always has the heart for people around him.” - Angela Wells, ASL Teacher

“Chris is one of the most genuinely great students at FHS. Chris is such a hard worker and won’t stop until everything is close to perfect…. He is a wonderful human being!” - Mark Toutge, Video Production Teacher

Here’s a little more about Chris:

All About Christopher

Favorite Classes & Teachers

“My favorite subject or teacher - that’s a tough one because I have a lot of favorite teachers and a lot of favorite subjects. Right now… graphic design, history, and video production.”

Favorite High School Memory

“When me and my classmates were working on a music video for video production… It was one of my favorite high school memories because it was very last minute but we were able to create an incredible party for our story. It was just one of the most incredible things because it was very last minute and we were able to unite so many people, all sorts and types of people in one building for one cause.”

Future Plans

“My plan after graduation is to attend St. Thomas. I’m really excited to go there as well as to move out, really just be on my own, to be incredibly independent, and just do my own thing, especially with this whole music thing a lot of people know me for. I hope to expand on that during the summer and just perfect my craft.”

Advice for Future Seniors

“Take life slow, take life very slow… You have all the time in the word, believe it or not, you just gotta take it one step at a time."
